Booth Library is a member of the Federal Depository Library Program, receiving United States government publications directly from the Government Printing Office in Washington D.C.  Booth Library is also a member of the Illinois Documents Depository Program, receiving Illinois State government publications from the State Library in Springfield, Illinois.

Federal and State documents are listed in the EIU Library Catalog and are generally housed in the Government Documents Section of Booth Library located on 2000 Level North.  Federal Documents are shelved using the Superintendent of Documents Classification System (SuDoc).  Illinois State Documents are shelved using the Dewey Decimal System.

In recent years, Illinois and the Government Printing Office have been transitioning from publishing print documents to producing electronic documents.  Electronic documents are listed in the EIU Library Catalog with their URL, making the titles available with just one click.
